The restaurants in Ostend serve delicious food. They specialise in Dover Sole, Shrimp croquettes and ‘tomato filled with shrimps’. There is plenty of choice in Ostend. You will find a whole row of restaurants along the quay side. Gourmet dinners, low budget lunches, foreign food ( Greek, Chinese, Italian …) a candlelight dinner, all of this is possible in Ostend. There is a large variety of restaurants spread all over town. In the centre of town there is the main market place called the “Wapenplein “ In the middle there is a kiosk with a band stand, surrounded by plenty of pubs and tearooms . Do'nt forget to pay a visit to Stene, at the edge of Ostend. It is a picturesque place with lots of restaurants.

Night Life “Ostend by Night”
The best places to visit in the evening are the “Langestraat” and the “Van Iseghemlaan” (locally also known as the Montmartre). In this area there are many pubs to spend the evening in. Ostend is a typical night town. Many restaurants stay open all night. The cabarets have disappeared out of this area, but do not panic they have just moved to the “Hazegras” at the edge of town.

Cinema - Ciné Rialto
The centre of town also houses a 12 screen cinema complex . Each Friday evening there is a sneak preview at 22hrs30. The movie club “Oostendse filmclub 62” is registered here.
On Thursday evenings they show a non commercial production.

Casino-Kursaal
Ostend boasts its own Casino. Apart from concerts, gala nights and public performances there is also the possibility to spend your last money here. “Riches have wings and fly away” is the motto here.
